Hello, I’m Robert from London in England. I'm co-founder of the Oxford and Cambridge Business English Institute (OCBE). I ran a $1bn turnover international construction business for 20 years and developed an interest in how English is used in business whilst working with multinational investors. I decided to become TEFL qualified and set out to create training that helps improve English and general business communication at the same time.
I have degrees and masters degrees in engineering, finance and business information technology from both Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and an MBA with distinction from the London Business School.
In addition to running OCBE, I'm still non-executive chair of a construction company in the UK, and ensure that our courses, coaching and training are kept up-to-date with how English is really used in the business world.
Knowing how to use English for Business is not about verbs, grammar or how it works in a classroom. It’s about knowing how the language works in a commercial context.
We are not traditional TEFL teachers, we are business people that have experience on the boards of national and multinational companies. We are also qualified English teachers and language learners, and our courses are written by combining traditional TEFL teaching with business research from the world's top universities such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Insead, London Business School, London School of Economics, Oxford and Cambridge. We are the only company that teaches English and Business at the same time.
